When water gets into a Spruce Grove home, the cost usually comes down to one thing: how much of the finished space can be saved. We clean up burst pipes, basement floods, sewer backups and appliance leaks, and we focus on drying what we can instead of tearing it out.

Saving a finished basement

A finished basement has carpet, underpad, drywall, insulation, baseboards and sometimes a bathroom or bedroom. Here’s how we decide what stays:

  • Carpet and underpad. Clean water caught early can often be dried. Carpet soaked by sewage or outside water has to be thrown out, and underpad almost always goes.
  • Drywall. We measure moisture in the wall. Lightly wet drywall can be dried in place. Drywall with soaked insulation behind it, or touched by contaminated water, usually needs the bottom section cut out.
  • Baseboards and trim. Often removed to let air into the wall cavity, then reinstalled if they’re sound.
  • Laminate and vinyl plank. Water trapped underneath usually means pulling it up so the subfloor can dry.

We photograph and list everything before it leaves the house.

Drying it properly

Once the wet materials are sorted, air movers and dehumidifiers run day and night. We come back, take readings, move equipment where it’s needed, and remove it only when the numbers show the structure is dry. Rebuilding before then risks trapping moisture and growing mould behind new drywall.

While you wait for us

Lift furniture legs onto foil or blocks, move boxes and electronics upstairs, and keep air moving if the water was clean. Don’t run a household vacuum on water. Our first 24 hours guide has the full list.

Not sure whether to start tearing things out? Don’t. Call first, and we’ll tell you what’s worth saving.

Local rules

Who handles the sewer main, and whether there’s help paying for a backwater valve, depends on the municipality. We didn’t find a published backwater valve rebate for Spruce Grove, so check with the City of Spruce Grove before you book prevention work.

Questions people ask

My finished basement flooded. Does all the drywall have to go?

Not always. If the water was clean and drying starts quickly, drywall can often be dried in place. If insulation behind it is soaked, or the water was contaminated, the wet sections usually come out.

Does Spruce Grove have a backwater valve rebate?

We didn't find a published one. Check with the City of Spruce Grove before you plan work.
